Configuring Windows for File-Server Mode

Step 1: Share the PRTRACKERDB directory on the server

By default, the PRTRACKERDB directory is installed at c:\Program Files\PR-Tracker\PRTRACKERDB. Using Explorer, locate the folder for PRTRACKERDB and right click on the folder. Select Sharing... or Sharing and Security... from the popup menu (if you don't see Sharing... or Sharing and Security... then you need to login as an administrator or setup file sharing on the computer).  Share the directory as PRTRACKERDB with full privileges.

Step 2: Set PRTRACKERDB directory security

This step only applies the Windows NT, 2000 and above. Security settings are not applicable to Windows 95, 98, and ME.

If PRTRACKERDB is located on an NTFS formatted hard disk, you must set directory security on the PRTRACKERDB directory. If PRTRACKERDB is on an NT or 2000 computer, it is likely that it is on an NTFS formatted disk. To know for certain, right click the PRTRACKERDB folder and select Properties from the popup dialog.  If the dialog displayed has a Security tab then the file system is NTFS.
